Better than I expected

This is the one to get if you are serious about game development.

I have been working with game development for a few years now and I still found plenty here that was new to me. The early chapters move quickly through material I already knew, but the later sections were genuinely new to me. A few of the examples could be more realistic, but the underlying points come across clearly. A few of the examples could be more realistic, but the underlying points come across clearly. An easy five stars from me. I look forward to whatever the author writes next.

This is the one to get

A genuinely enjoyable read that also taught me a great deal.

This is the third book I have read on game development this year, and it is comfortably the best of them. I found myself making notes in the margins, which is always a good sign. The chapters on game development are the strongest — the examples are stripped down but complete, and I could follow along without constant guessing. This is the book I wish had existed when I started working with game development.

Worth every page

Better than I expected. Rare to find a technical book this well judged.

I picked this up after getting stuck on a project and it turned out to be exactly the right book at the right time. The progression from chapter to chapter is well thought out; nothing feels out of order. The progression from chapter to chapter is well thought out; nothing feels out of order. The index and cross-references are surprisingly good, which matters for a book I will come back to. Worth the money and the reading time, without hesitation.
